About us

The BioComposites Centre in Bangor University is involved in assisting industry to develop new technology based on findings described in existing published articles.  The research provided by the BioComposites Centre is at a technology readiness level (TRL) between 3-6.  This project was funded by Innovate UK and involves a collaboration between partners in the UK: BioComposites Centre (Bangor University), Scitech Adhesives Systems Ltd (UK), Nextek Ltd, Parkside Flexibles (Europe) Ltd., Tesco Stores Ltd, and partners in Malaysia: Institute of Tropical Forestry and Forest Products (Malaysia Putra University), PolyComposite Sdn Bhd and Eco Premium Packaging(M) Sdn Bhd.  The aim of this research is to develop new packaging materials which would prolong food shelf life and reduce the quantities of food waste in both countries.  In addition the outcome of this research is expected to lower the quantities of pathogens naturally present, especially Campylobacter, which could reduce the number of people seeking medical attention.
